JV Girls' Basketball
Head Coach: J.R. Wilson
Coach Wilson loves teaching life principles through the game of basketball, and for the last four years, he has done just that as our Lady Flames coach. During his first season with our Lady Flames, J.R. led the team in winning the third sectional tournament game in school history. For more than 10 years, J.R. has passionately coached students of all ages and skill levels, elementary through high school. J.R. believes in the importance of teaching fundamentals at a young age, which has led him to build our girls youth sports program by creating a Biddy Ball program, as well as lead the Elementary Sports at Mansfield Christian School. Hard work is his main coaching core value; his favorite motto is “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard!”
Being a husband and father is another one of J.R.’s greatest passions and joys. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Donita, for nearly 23 years. They have been blessed with three sons, D.J., Jamison, and Kaden. They are a sports family, and all three of his boys have love basketball just like their dad. J.R.’s favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, which says, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”
