Can I Afford a Christian Education for My Child?

April 6, 2018

Private school. It’s a dream you’ve had for your child but never seriously pursued because of those daunting tuition bills. Or maybe you haven’t even allowed yourself to dream because you believe private school isn’t meant for families with your financial status.

Don’t give up on the dream of a Christian education for your child until you’ve considered all the resources available. Financial assistance isn’t just for college students; in fact, you may find yourself pleasantly surprised when you discover that there are ways to make paying for private school more manageable than you thought.

State-Funded Vouchers

The Ohio Department of Education believes that “all children deserve a quality education that best fits their learning needs,” including children who would benefit from a private Christian education. Ohio offers a number of scholarship programs to help families give their children more educational options. Based on income, if your family qualifies, your children could receive the Ed Choice Expansion Scholarship which would cover the cost of tuition in full.

How do you know if your family qualifies for an EdChoice Expansion voucher? The following students are eligible to apply:

  • Student is eligible to enter Kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth or fifth grade for fall 2018;
  • Family household income is at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.

Find out if your family household income qualifies by checking the guide below:

Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund

The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund is a privately funded organization that awards scholarship assistance to low-income K-8 students in the area, including students living in the following counties: Allen, Crawford, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot.

NOSF believes that students should not be limited to family income when it comes to a quality education, including religious-affiliated schools. Mansfield Christian School is proud to partner with NOSF, which awards up to $1,500 per qualifying student. For information about how to apply, click here.
