Mrs. Joy Cochran

English

Graduated from: The Ohio State University

Joy has a long history with Mansfield Christian.  She attended MCS from kindergarten through high school graduation in 1989, met her husband in Mrs. Kirkpatrick’s fourth grade class, and lettered in volleyball, basketball, track, and softball.  After graduating from MCS, she attended the University of Findlay in order to study Comprehensive Speech/Communications Education and play volleyball.  After two years at UF, Joy married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Joel Cochran, and they both finished their studies at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1993.

Shortly thereafter, Joel and Joy started their family.  They have four children currently at MCS.  Prior to teaching full time, Joy stayed home with the children and taught “Creative Speech and Writing” on a part-time basis to junior high and senior high independent studies students for seven years.  In addition to her earlier experiences, Joy is a teacher with nine years of teaching practice in elementary, independent studies, high school Bible, and currently high school English. She thoroughly enjoys teaching freshmen and juniors a Biblical worldview in the areas of literature, writing, reading, grammar, and vocabulary acquisition.  She desires to challenge students to be articulate Christians and represent Christ well by living a life of worship to Him in every aspect of their lives.
